Ahhhh! Warmth

After a harrowing experience with the recent snowstorm in DC, we made it florida last night.  Yesterday we woke to 50 degrees in our house after two days of no power to catch our flight.  Travel was great.  Everyone glad to get out of Dodge!

Preparing for Pine Car Derby next week

This year as wolves the boys are allowed to you more than just sandpaeon their cars.  So they both designed their cars on paper and then drew cut marks on the wood blocks.  Then time for the coping saw.  For the most part they kept to lines.  And they realized it was pretty hard work.  After some sanding, the cars are looking pretty good.

Some Assembly Required

Today was put together day.  Started with picking up a chair we ordered. The chair was pretty good.  Just a big box to move and putting on the feet.  Then it was putting Karen's treadmill together.  It was delivered on Wednesday, but I've been in LA on business until late last night. There were not to many parts but still took a good hour to put together.  Finally, I got a sound bar and sub woofer.  No assembly, but took a while connecting the TV, wii, and my xm radio. Sounds pretty good, though not that much better than the TV speakers except for the now much improved bass.

Stools Finally Here

They look pretty good.  I scotch guarded the seats before screwing them down onto the stool frame.  Kids are ready for bar service at snack time today!

Triops Come To Life

There are a couple visible in the top left and middle of the picture.

Our Aquasaur project is now in full swing. The eggs must have hatched about a week ago or so, for right before we left for NY, we say a few faint specs swimming. Well now they are about 1/4" long and growing. Fun to watch them feed, grabbing the food that Reuben has been dumping in each morning (just a 4 or 5 tiny pellets). There about a five of the 1/4" ones now. I saw a few baby swimmers yesterday, but I think they will be eaten by the bigger guys. Survival of the fittest and all; you don't last 300 million years by luck :-)

Happy New Year

We spent New Year's Eve at a friend's house who cooked a wonderful dinner for everyone. We followed that with a max field for a game of Life! We had a really good time even though when I popped open a special corked Ale it made a mess in the kitchen :-) The board game brought back memories of playng board games as a kid on New Years Eve. For years Mark and I and our two best friends would have an all night Risk game on New Years. It always ended the same! Scott and I would have the last Armies left. I would make a final play for Asia and then Scott would sweep through my thinned out Army and take the game!
