The infamous bone after repeated burials and hours of chewing!!
The bone saga continues... Tipper's Love/Hate relationship with the bone has certainly steered to the Love side, as you can see from the images below.
Finally, Karen captured a quick movie of Tipper unburying the bone.
Tipper's New Bone
For Valentine's Day our neighbor got Faith and the boys small teddy bears. They also got Tipper a new bone. It was a strange bone, not a real bone; not a rawhide bone, not a nylobone; something different and hard to explain. Anyway Tipper did not seem to like it. When I gave it to her she took it in her mouth and immediately started to whine loudly. Tipper then took the bone and dropped it in the living room. I then tried giving it to her again. Same whining but this time she brought it right to the basement, hid it, and came back.
Well, this past weekend I found it in the basement and gave it to her again. She took it and ran up the basement stairs. About 5 minutes later, I hear loud whining. Tipper wants to take the bone outside. I let her outside and watch her. She wanders around the whole yard until she winds up on the far side corner (an area fenced meant to keep her out, but in need of repair). There she begins to bury the bone.
Jumpo ahead 2 days. Tipper is strongly begging to go outside. Once outside, she runs to the far side corner of the yard and digs up the bone. She then spends close to 3 hours outside chewing the bone. Finally Karen had to drag her into the house. Same story today. There is not much left to the "strange" bone, but we'll see how she acts tomorrow... 
Pretty boring day today. My favorite types!
Karen ran a few errands to get us ready for our vacation, swapping kids throughout. I stayed home with the kid(s) that were swapped out. We played a lot in the basement and I set up some train tracks down there. Jacob played by himself with the trains for a long while; his imaginary play is really taking off. Everyone, but Karen then took great naps.
Probably do breakfast out tomorrow. As a preview I'll report on what Reuben ate today. To start things off before breakfast Karen now gives him a snack cup filled with cheerios; he finished those before he left his room. Then at breakfast he had 2 bowls of Corn Meal Mush (tastes like Grits; I really wanted finish the box and get rid of it; not quite finished yet). The kids call it yellow oatmeal, and they all surprising like it. To get back to Reuben's breakfast... He then had 2 scrambled eggs with a veggie sausage link. Later in the morning he had another snack cup filled with cheerios. For lunch he had 2 hot dogs, 6-8 baby carrots, and 2/3 of a large pear. Oh and then he asked for ice cream, so I gave him a scoop of chocolate and vanilla. As for dinner, I'll have to ask about that, I was still napping...

Snowstorm!!!
Well we finally got some snow. The boys were loving it; Faith not so much. In total we got about 10 inches, give or take a couple, but it was very easy to shovel. Any you can see for yourself how everyone enjoyed winter's late arrival.

Well today we took the kids to their first movie, Curious George. I thought I had a somewhat original idea; weather crappy, head out to the movies. With the snow not really coming down yet, we headed to Tysons for the 12:00 show. We got there about 11:50. I immediately realized my idea was far from unique as the number of mini-vans lining the 6th floor of the parking garage (direct entrance to the food court and movies) resembled a family car show. We quickly got our tickets and hit the theatre. Well, it was obvious that finding 5 continous seats seats was going to be tough, so we took the first set in the front row of the top section (stadium seating). Luckily, most people also must have thought their idea was unique because the crowds kept coming and coming... well after we got in. In the end it was filled. A mother wound up sitting next to us with her kid sitting on the step because she couldn't find a seat (sometime during the movie she disappeared , so I assume she found 2 seats somewhere).
Anyway the movie was a hit. Everytime Curious George made a mess, Faith was quick to shout out "Oh Noooo!". Jacob and Reuben stayed pretty quiet mesmerized by the movie and their giant lap full of nachos. Faith and Karen also shared a nacho. I mooched off Jacob. The movie was pretty good, especially geared for the little ones. It also contained very few of the "adult" inside jokes now in many of the new animated movies; kind of nice for a change.
The new Tysons movie theatre, our first visit there, was beautiful. One cool thing were the signs at the concession stand. They were LCD TV's. Most of the time they had a static display showing the normal items and their price, but every once in awhile a section would animate, highlighting a particular item; like a dancing hot dog. Made for a very vibrant sign.
After the movie we all went home for naps, including me.
New Movies
Crazy days in the Hemmerworld household. Reuben had been really sick with a bad stomach virus. Since Mark wanted to see a picture of his virus, we got a lab photo from the ER and is shown below:
Not that impressive as a picture, but it through us all for a loop. Any way, while Reuben and Karen were in the ER last night, I took some movies of Jacob and Faith.
This next one requires your volume pretty high, that is if you want to hear Jacob singing...
Yucky day here today, so I thought it would be a good day for the Museum of Natural History. Unfortunately, Faith woke with her nose running even more than normal, so Karen wanted to keep her home. I decided to take the boys on my own to the museum. All went well and the boys stayed pretty interested in the bones and dinosaurs for about 45 minutes. They started getting tired/rambunctious after that, but it was lunch time anyway.
I'm not quite sure they understood that these were fossilized bones and that all the flesh was missing.
Here was Stegasaurus that was more than just bones.
The elephant was still the big hit.
As a good Dad, I had to get them some dinosaurs to take home. Reuben and Jacob both wanted T-Rex's, so I got 2 of them and a Brachiosaurus for Faith. Well, by the time we got to the car Reuben wanted the Brachiosaurus, so now Faith has a T-Rex.
Later in the day, Reuben got some kind of intestinal/stomach bug. Hopefully he'll be feeling better in the morning.
