Guests Come ToThe Pool

Today we met Ken and Amanda for breakfast and then hit the pool. The weather looked pretty grim on the way to the pool. I just checked the satellite view and it showed a solid sheet of clouds. The radar showed no rain, so we went to the pool anyway. Five minutes later when we got there, the sun came out and stayed out the whole time.

Afterward I replaced a couple of panels of screening on our screened in porch. For a quick and dirt fix it looks decent. Then since Faith wouldn't nap, I fixed her ceiling fan. All in all a productive and fun day.

Wii Update

I did a baseball training session and found my swing. Still just so-so but enough to get my Wii age down to.... 33!!! Yeah! I must say it is fun, but golf is a thing of beauty.

Quick Visit To DC

We went into DC for a quick visit this morning. We hit the Museum of Art and then natural history. We avoided the dinosaurs this time and wanted to focus on the insects. However, the big hit were all the animal skeletons on the way to insect hall.

In the afternoon I had softball (we lost both) and Karen took the kids to Target. At Target she found a Wii and bought it. So tonight we've been playing with it... my Wii age is 55, while Karen is 78. I am still struggling hitting the baseball but I think its coming!!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Michael

Quick post from Karen: It is my dad's 70th birthday today. He came in from New Mexico with my stepmom Rochelle so we could celebrate with him. My brother Marc and his fiancee Meg also came. We went to Sequoia in Georgetown. Here are a few pictures. I'll ask Barry to post others later. Happy Birthday Daddy. Love, Karen

Pool Day

This morning I finally played my first softball games of the season. I hit terribly, but made some fine plays in the outfield. At least the games were 10am-12pm and it was only 90 degrees. By early afternoon it was a sweltering 95.

Tomorrow I have another softball day but its for 12-2pm, so it should be a comfortable 97 degrees. I also have to bring all three kids solo to the game, because Ms. social butterfly has a nice air conditioned luncheon to attend!

Anyway this afternoon to cool down we made out to a local community pool that we joined this year. It really hit the spot.

The Spoils Of Victory!!!

Here is my Fantasy Football trophy for winning the league this year. Though I really owe much of it to my friend Spike who drafted for me while I was on business travel. We won despite his pick of Donovan McNabb ;-)

Two Thumbs Up - Rocky Balboa

Call me a sucker for Rocky, but Rocky Balboa (technically Rocky VI) was a very a good movie. Karen was out for a meeting tonight so I finally got to watch it. I was happily surprised. Essentially it is a very enjoyable bookend remake of Rocky I. This last Rocky movie is definitely back in the class of Rocky II and III. Perhaps it's even better than Rocky III, the previous second best Rocky. As in the original, take a very simple story add a likable hero and you get a winner.

Israel's 60th Birthday Party

My softball games were canceled today due to the other team forfeiting. I've still yet to play this season! Anyway this shuffled plans around so we decided to go to the Israeli fest on the mall. Our family and maybe 50-75 thousand other people really enjoyed the party.
