Rolling Thunder and other things...

We went this morning to watch the motor cycles start their trip into DC as part of Rolling Thunder for Memorial Day. They launch from the Harley dealer in Fairfax City and then meet up with the rest of country's riders at the Pentagon. Not sure of the official count, but I bet >1000 bikes went out of Fairfax.

Then I did some more cutting around the front of the house. Probably got about 1/2 done and I have yet to touch any of the spirea. Its overgrown but just now starting to flower; so I want to wait. And I haven't cleaned up all the clippings yet; a quick storm came through and provided a good excuse to quit. Maybe tomorrow I can find time to finish the junipers in the front, very overgrown since I don't think I cut them last year. And the backyard is a real mess that will be a two-weekender! For now the front looks passable.

Finally, last week's rains finally tested my new sump pump. It is very quiet operating and only seems to turn on for maybe 10 seconds at a time every couple of minutes as it was pouring. Water never got high enough to see, or trigger any concern. So today, I cut a hole in my leaf guard for the walk out basement area so I can hopefully keep some of the debris out of the sump pit.

Happy Birthday Reuben and Jacob

Our boys are now 6 years old! Such big boys now. We had a very happy birthday celebration, especially with our special guest of the week... Andrea (our first nanny).

Tipper has turned into the biggest ham when I am taking pictures. She sits there perfectly still waiting for me to take her picture.

And finally an old movie of the boys (Faith is in Mommy's belly).

The Wait Is Over!!!

Yes, Faith had her 2009 ballet recital on Sunday.

Faith did a great job, though the whole class was a bit distracted looking to the side of the stage for directions. I think Faith could have done it her own.

Only one party still to go

Today we had Faith's birthday party for her classmates. She wanted a princess bowling party! Luckily we talked her out of the princess part and kept with the bowling. It was fun but chaotic. Everyone had a goodtime.

The day started out busy. I took the kids out for breakfast and then to "Five Below" so they could use some of their gift money. Faith bought a little art set with glitter and stickers and the boys each got a pump rocket. I rushed them home from the store so I could make my softball games (which we won). I then rushed home from my games to take a 5 minute shower and then out the door again to the party. Whew!
I'll be happy when birthday season is over.

Mother's Day And Soccer

We had a nice mother's day breakfast at IHOP and then exchanged presents back at home. We rode some bikes and tried to get a kite flying (no real luck) then off to Soccer (and I played my first softball later in the afternoon) ...

I was lucky to get a great goal from Jacob on video.

Faith also played (played maybe pushing it). She did kick the ball 3 times!.

Reuben played well too, but I think the coach told him to play defense which I didn't understand. I was helping Faith get ready so missed the start of Reuben's game. When I got there and I yelled for him to follow his kick of the ball, he told he was supposed to stay on his goal's side of the center line. Not sure he really understood the coach, but she didn't correct him either.

More Birthday With Faith

We had a wonderful birthday for Faith with presents to follow!

Happy Birthday Faith - 5 Years Old

This morning Faith came in singing, "It's my birthday, it's my birthday" into our room. I gave a little special gift from Daddy, a necklace, that she is already wearing. Can't believe she's five already.
Lot more gifts coming later, as are Grandma and Grandpa on their way back from Florida.

Party at Rio Grande

We had a big group of friends go out for dinner at Rio Grande tonight. Actually its now called Uncle Julio's. No idea why they would change the name and especially why to Uncle Julio's. Anyway the place and the menu look the same. We were a party of 20.5 with the kids slightly outnumbering the adults. We took the risk and it paid off... kids at one table, adults at the other! Waitress did a great job and we had a good time.

OK. Now back to my slow roll-out of vacation pictures...
Here we are at a water park with Nanna, Aunt Steph, Uncle Mitch, and Cousin Levy.

Then it was off to visit Cousin Levy.

Levy is hiding behind Reuben.

Uncle Marc and Aunt Meg came over too, with Marc pretending to work :-)
